your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne

very very very good.

it has a really exciting, slightly seedy and romantic atmosphere. it feels very international, like you could be in shanghai or sao paulo and we went there even had a table of russian oligarchs.

The food is amazing. certainly it is the best chinese food i have had outside china and being able to order stuff like fish maw is just brilliant.

The staff were attentive but not overbearing.

Finally and refreshingly, it was really good value for money. 5 us, drinking champagne and eating until we could eat no more came to about £350.

I can't recommend this place more highly.

It is difficult to argue about something good when you know it is almost perfect. Hakkasan is exactly this place. I have visited the place many times and I did it last week just to try to find whether I could find anything wrong with my perception.

Well, the place was crowded, the music was loud, the food was expensive, we were given only two hours to keep our table, but these two hours made me just love crowds, loud music and expensive food. The food was delicious, as always, the crowd was lively and trendy and the music made me relaxed.

The service was quick and smooth, though, a little bit overattentive. What struck me the most was the design of their dishes which was state-of-the-art. Although the restaurant is chinese the wine list is quite international which makes all the difference for the people who are a part of European wine culture. We had a bottle of nice Massetto 2001 which actually went well with shark fin soup. The dumplings appeared to be a good substitute for Italian pasta, so we ordered another bottle.

As I write my review I am not sure anymore whether I owe the impression of my last visit to the wine or the restaurant itself. I guess the only way to find out is to visit them again!

Overall an excellent restaurant. The swish basement interior doesn't reflect the shabby exterior in the neighbourhood upstairs.

Professional and friendly service throughout. The helpful waiter recommended our choices (dimsum) and that was spot on. The wine list was a bit pricey but I chose the cheapest white which was excellent so we had four bottles. With wine it was about £90 per head, without £70.

Excellent food and excellent service in a silky, sexy ambience.

We had heard about Hakkasan and its prices from friends but then friends went for dim sum and raved about it. So yesterday 4 of us booked in for Sunday dim sum and loved it all. The waiter was lovely and knew the menu well. He told us when to stop ordering dishes too as it's easy to get carried away, they all sound delicious. They came in batches of 3 and all of them were fantastic. Intially in portions of 3 which we divided, the batches then started coming out with 4 pieces. The funny thing was that the most expensive item was a plate of pak choi which was £9.50 ( from the a la carte menu).

The decor and atmosphere was very relaxed too which was bliss as Oxford St was crazy. Overall, I thought it was super value for money at £35 per couple incl service. No alcohol which obviously made the difference to our bill. Definitely plan to go back in the (near) future.

service was ok but nothing special, food again was nothing special but ok.

Decor was the best part of the experience for us.

Don't really feel the need to go back..

Having just ate at Hakkasan for the third time I thought I'd finally add a review. Firstly the food on every visit has been superb, the chilean sea bass is a must have and the mongolian venison was melt in the mouth!!

The service was fantastic and we never felt rushed off the table, although it was a tuesday night so maybe that was why.

The experience of Hakkasan is still as amazing as I remebered from previous visits. As previous reviewers have mentioned it is not cheap, the last visit did take me a little by surprise. I think the prices may have all gone up slightly across the board. I would now expect a full meal for 2 with wine and a cocktail to be in the £100 a head region.

On all 3 visits I have left with a feeling of true satisfaction on aspects; the amazing food, the great service and the great atmosphere.

We had a lovely evening meal last night at Hakkasan! I thought the whole restaurant looked modern but beautiful! From the moment you enter the somewhat urban - subway style entrance, then down to the basement restaurant, the aromatic smell of joss sticks invites you in. The staff were ready to greet you, all immaculately dressed and polite. We had a cocktail at the bar, which was lovely start to the evening, then were shown to our table at the time we had booked the table for. My only criticisms of the bar was it didn't have a lovely tropical fish tank bar like Yauatcha and a few of the bar staff stood about whilst the bar wasn't seemingly busy, chatting with their arms folded! I guess the "look busy, even if you aren't," isn't a priority for some bar staff.

Selecting the food from the not too overwhelming menu was fine, with good suggestions made from our waiter who had a good knowledge of the dishes. The timing of bringing out the dishes was very good, allowing enough time to eat and enjoy and not feel rushed with both starters and main dishes. Dessert wasn't rushed either and we were given enough time to let the main part of the meal settle before ordering our final courses. We loved the delicious Jasmine Tea Ribs and Dim Sum selection. The Sea Bass was wonderful and so was the Duck! Desserts were light and refreshing. The waiter serving out table was always polite and willing to answer any questions we had about the dishes.

The ladies loos were interesting, perhaps a little too dark for my liking but they fitted in with the atmosphere of the restaurant itself. The handwash was beautifully scented.

Right from the beginning to the end of the experience of dining at Hakkasan, it was well worth the money and deserving of its one Michelin Star. Well done!

The most overrated, overhyped, overpriced restaurant I have eaten in. The staff are like robots just doing what is required but with a strange sort of fixed grin on their faces, our waitress was pleasant enough. The food wasn't anything to "write home" about, all the dishes tasted similar, none of them stood out at all and all but two of them arrived at our table lukewarm (and we were near the kitchen, table 57). It is quite noisy generally, I think the music could be turned down a bit and of course the whole thing is so rushed, 2 hours is not long enough!. The bill then arrives and, well, what can I say, shocking!. I would NOT recommend this restaurant, you really can get much better food in Chinatown (we have) where you won't be herded in or out. It will also cost an awful lot less, in fact you could probably treat yourself to a show with the difference!

My girlfriend treated me to a meal at Hakkasan for our anniversary and I can honestly say it was the most delicious meal I have been for in a long time. The decor was very stylish and it had a great atmosphere, and the vension, duck and ribs were delicious! I hope to be going back very soon!
