My partner and I went there tonight and had a lovely time. The food was very well prepared and the staff were extremely attentive. Highly recommended with a couple of very minor caveats for the discerning.
It must be said that the ambiance of this restaurant is very pleasant, and the decor very agreeable, in modern neutral and blue tones. However all of the surfaces are hard and highly sound reflective, so if you have any trouble hearing, there could be difficulties if the place is packed. We arrived for an early dinner at 6:45 on a Friday night with only four tables being served (out of about 20 I'd say). The champagne bar next door (as other reviewers have noted) was faintly evident, but on the whole not intrusive.
That said, the food was excellent. From the charming hot+cold bisque amuse-bouche to the delicious pannacotta, we were very pleased. We splurged on the Sevruga caviar. We expected to be underwhelmed by that, but were pleasantly surprised. For a main, the Plateau de fruits de Mer was very substantial - enough for two, and the chef even put on a couple of extra razor clams for us. When we later decided we were stuffed and cancelled our order of the John Dory, the Maitre D' said it would not be a problem, as the entrees are fresh-prepared. Who knows how true that is, but we received no fuss whatsoever.
Our server was knowledgeable but not snooty. She wasn't perfect (this is not Michelin-starrred dining), but very professional and friendly. Her white Chilean wine recommendation was spot-on and delicious. We felt pampered but not too posh. She perfectly balanced our need to be left alone with our need to be attended to. We left her £20 on top of the suggested 12.5% service. When I later asked to reserve the lid of the caviar pot for a souvenir, the Maitre D' retreived it from the bin for us with a smile.
Not sure you will get the same level of service if you eat later in the evening, or when the place is packed, but we had a glorious time. For white-tablecloth dining, it's a good value for money, considering we paid £165 (plus our extra tip for the server) with a starter, a large main for the two of us, the cheaper wine and the caviar plate, with desserts and digestifs. We did not feel like we were economising at all and were not made to by the staff. We're going back for the John Dory!

Went there for the first time in the past week and must say that the fish was delicious. Restaurant is somewhat noisy though and conversations can be a bit challenging. Would go back

My partner and I went for our first visit while in London for a couple of days. We went for lunch on the Thursday and were so struck by everything we booked for lunch the following day prior to our flight from London City Airport later.
What a perfect way to end a memorable few days. The fish was wonderfully fresh and cooked to perfection. The waiting staff were without exception friendly and very helpful without being intrusive. Finally the somelier was one of the greats and she recommended two very unusual and perfect wines to compliment our two meals.
We were seated in the main restaurant and were certainly not bothered by the people in the adjoining bar. I don't understand the previous reviewers comments because it's not neccesary for anyone to go through the restaurant from the bar bar to use the toilets as there is a separate way through.

I will not be going back. I went for a nice quiet diner with my partner. The bar was packed with falling down drunks who amuse themselves by shouting, fighting, throwing up and annoying the diners when they stagger to the toilet via the restaurant. The restaurant was full of braying tourists and essex girls. The place was full of flies and they had run out of most of starters, mains and desserts by 8.30. It's a shame because I used to really like this place - someonme needs to get a grip!

The food at Fishmarket is excellent - definitely the best oysters I've eaten. The service is very good though very formal and almost disconcertingly attentive. The wine we had was also excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing and serene, though it did seem somewhat like eating in the lobby of a hotel (which I guess we were). I don't generally go to restaurants as expensive as this one, but I felt very comfortable and taken care of at Fishmarket and you can't argue with the quality. I will definitely go back.

Always good. Service friendly. For an informal lunch eat at the bar.
Main restaurant feels like a hotel lobby but the food is first class. Good wine list
