I went to this restaurant because my parent's in law where coming to visit me,so I decided to take them to a nice, confortable and cosy restaurant near Covent Garden. As I expected, this resturant was absolutely wonderful.

As it was a french restaurant, the dishes were tasty and exquisetly cooked. We went soupe a l'onion, and salade au filet de thon, very light and refreshing, for starters .

After these appetzing entrees, my parent's in law decided to have duck and lamb. Both dishes were, magnificent, put together with a roast steeple potatoes. I did not know what to choose, but at the end I opted for a Croque Monsieur with french fries. Absolutely amazing! it remenbered me my childhood and the years I spend in a french school.

During our dinner, the waiters, who all spoke fluent french, were polite and attentive to us. They made the atmosphere more friendly and enjoyable.

To end, this soree, we could not resist the desserts, so tempting! so we decided to have tarte aux pommes avec caramel, and strawberries millefeuilles. The finishing touch.

I recommened this restaurant to the ones who want to fly to Paris, just for a meal, and wanted a little, laudable Brasserie Francaise.

I took my girlfriend to this restaurant having looked it up and seen favourable thoughts on it online. We had a really lovely evening on the whole, but I think the best way to sum it up is good, but a bit variable.

It seemed very small on the outside but was in fact spread across two floors offering comfy and cosy dining in a modern interior

So to the food...Starters ordered were the Onion Soup and the asparagus. The asparagus arrived and on the plate were three very large very tender bits of asparagus with a lovely tangy balsamic dressing and parmesan shavings. lovely! The french Onion soup however was a plentiful portion, but was more like Onion gravy than an onion soup, so a bit disappointing

For main courses the 30day hung Rib eye Steak and the Roasted lamb rump were ordered. The steak was oredered Medium rare and came to the table pretty much on the mark! it's a 30day hung ribeye which was abslolutely full of flavour and melt in the mouth although a little fattier than would be expected. it was served with a very lovely bernaise sauce and a rather large portion of beautifully cooked incredibly skinny fries (all of which were devoured!).

The lamb again was just sumptious. Ordered medium it came to the table beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Served with a peppercorn sauce and some of the best Duaphinoise potatoes I've had outside of home cooked. creamy and garlicky!

Pudding was a mixed affair rather like the starter. Apple tart and Caramel Ice cream and the Vanilla cheesecake were the order.

The tart was enjoyed although in my mind a tad tough in the pastry, however well complimented with the caramel icecream.

The cheesecake however... was a tad odd. The base was a bit bland, and the cheesecake part on top had a powdery texture to it. However it wasn't not enjoyed and the blackberries it was served with certainly boosted the flavour areas that were lacking.

All of this was accompanied by a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile.

Service could have been a bit quicker but was otherwise friendly and competant and I had no qualms with apying the 12.5 service which was automatically added to the bill.

If you're looking for an easy venue with a mostly very good menu, or indeed a pre theatre venue then I would definitely recommend this.

Three course + wine worked out at approx £35 per head.

Seven of us ate downstairs on a Friday evening, on the "3-courses plus a half-bottle of wine" deal for £20, and had a good time. The food and wine were good value for money, without being top-notch, and they delivered minute steaks that were rare (at our request) - quite a feat in a busy London restaurant. The set menu had four good choices in every course.

Service was pleasant and good when present, though with some long gaps when out of sight.

The only bum note (literally) was the background music, which they did turn down when we asked, but featured extremely heavy bass on about a third of the tracks - it was like being hit repeatedly on the back of the head with a muffled mallet. Our fellow-diners (two other large tables) were well-behaved, and apart from the music the atmosphere was relaxing.

We had really awful food, and a slightly arrogant service. The boeuf bourguignon was completely as undercooked in a light stock, and the half corn fed chicken were flat chicken legs that came from under the grill with about five pieces of french beans. Though the fries were excellent - well done!

I have been here on more occations then i can remember and have always been satisfied with both the service and the food. The BB has good offers before 19.00 i think and after that the price is still reasonable. This is not a Michelin star restaurant but it does what it says on the tin. Good food in a good atmosphere at a very good price. Full marks to BB

I'm surprised to read some of these reviews.

Went for a lunchtime meal on a busy saturday, and while the food could've arrived a little quicker it was well worth the wait. One of the group had the basque lamb stew, and almost asked for the recipe, one had half chicken, french beans and frites - which was excellent, i had a perfectly cooked, extremely tender rib eye steak, with a sumptuously rich bearnaise and frites.

The staff were polite attentive, but not overly so and were quick to offer tap water as an alternative to bottled.

I'm always a little perturbed by an 'optional' service charge automatically added to a bill, but in this case we were happy to pay it; and besides, it seems to be fairly standard for the West End. Will definitely return.

We enjoyed our meal at the Boulevard on August 3. Food and service were excellent. We had been there before, and were a bit sceptical due to some negative reviews, but we do not regret having another go.

This place has gone downhill. Char-grilled squid as a starter that was luke warm. Grilled fish as a main that was burnt to a crisp. Very poor service - the waitress leaning across me with my friend's plate, when it was quite easy to go behind. And the drinks are a rip-off. £2-20 for half a litre of nasty mineral water. Wines by the glass that are extremely overpriced compared with a bottle. I'd not been here for a year but prior to that I'd been a lot. I will not return.

I would not eat at Boulevard Brasserie again. I went with a friend for lunch a few days ago. Although the restaurant was nearly deserted (only two other tables that I could see), it still took nearly 40 minutes for our order to arrive. Really too long of a wait at lunchtime. Meanwhile, the waitresses stood hovering over us, which is a bit disconcerning when you are trying to have a relaxing meal.

All of this would have been OK if the food had been great, but sadly it was not even cooked to order. I asked for my lamb medium rare (expecting in a French restaurant that it might even come out 'bleu'!) only to have a nearly well done lamb delivered to my table. The chef cannot have been rushed in the kitchen, as there was seemingly hardly anyone there, so who knows? Maybe he went outside for a smoke break and forgot about the lamb?

And then there is that grating 'cover charge' that others have mentioned. I am sorry, but charging anything for bread is simply unacceptable, especially when it is a 'per person' charge. Just because a London restaurant can rip people off, doesn't mean it should.
