Staff very friendly, food was lovely. The only thing that lets this place down is the horrid decor and awful 1980's sixth form common room tables and chairs.

I went to Andy's for the first (and last) time last night with a friend. The service was adequate, but less-than-friendly. We thought the food was over-priced and certainly nothing to write home about. We realised too late that we should have opted for Daphne's next door.

I went with 6 girls from work for lunch on a Friday lunch and I must say it was the best greek food I had had in my 4 years of working in Camden we were offered 2 different set menus which consisted of falafel, squid, humous, taramasalata and tzaki or meatballs the list was endeless not like some of the places you go where you only get a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains. We were then brought out more or less a whole loaf of foccacia to have with our dips which we had about 10 plates on the table of the most gorgeous home made dips (nothing pre packed here) we ate so much we couldn't eat a lot of our main course which I had calamari some had kebabs which were lovely and then he gave us some home made meat balls for free!!!!! they were lovely we also had a greek salad which was served in a large bowl which between 6 of us we couldnt finish and my friend asked them for a takeaway which they did by wrapping it up for us. All in all I found it really nice food there wasnt anyone else there though which made me think when we walked throught the door it may be a bad choice but to be honest as long as you are with friends who cares who else was there! in fact I have 14 of us going there next Friday for lunch we enjoyed it so much!

We went to Andy's last sunday to celebrate my boyfriends birthday,

The waiter was quit uninterested and unfriendly. And not very fast, although the restaurant was quit empty at first. We were a bit dissapointed that we couldn't have 1 vegetarian and 1 meat mezze, but could understand.

The fishplatter we took in stead was very good and came pertty fast. Grilled (on wood!) white fish (big), squid (big), prawn (2), tuna (small and bit burned), salmon (small) and came with tarramoslata (how do you write that?) and aubergine dip as a starter (less then 20 pounds for the two of us). The bottle of retsina we had was really nice. (10 pounds)

The dessert was a bit dissapointing, mainly fruit. But good non the less. (6 pounds for the two of us)

The atmosphere changed when the 'Maitre de' came in, very nice guy who offered us a free drink.

All together a pleasant evening and lovely dinner for a total bill of 40 pounds.

We recently visited Andy's Taverna in Camden for a quite lunchtime meal. In reality we were the only five guest at the restaurant which raised our expectation for a quick and faultless service. After ordering drinks and a few starters we had to wait a long time for our main course mainly consisting of grilled meats and fish. When our order finally arrived we were served an overcooked steak instead of a medium rare ordered, a greek patter dish for two charged at 26 pounds consisting of two extremely small sausages one lamb chop an few peaces of chicken and beef meat which we thought was a one person portion, a fish which was perhaps the only dish without fault, and wait still more for another mixed grill to arrive. From the menu all main dishes should have been served with greek salad, but we ended up with only one salad to share the 5 of us, and two portion of chips which should have come as standard with all the meat dishes. Two portion of vegetables ordered as side dish were noting more that a few overcooked yellowish broccoli florets and frozen green beens pieces. At the end we felt somewhat shortchanged having experienced a poor slow and unapologetic service.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a nice meal out on Sunday evening in order to reward ourselves for a long, hardworking week.

I'm telling you, we made such a mistake going to Andy's Taverna.

The problems started from a slow, inattentive service. We were placed at dirty table. The waiter duely took the table cloth away, but we did not get a new clean one until about 10 minutes later, when another waiter came to get an order and discovered that we didn't have any menu or clean cloth.

We order the set dip starter for two, at the price of £6.50. What we got was a basket of warm bread, which was quite nice, and 3 plates of dips; yogurt, hummous and tiramasalata. The mouse smelt so fishy we could not eat it. Our hope lied in our main courses.

I ordered special kebab at £10.25 and my boyfriend ordered mixed grill at £9.95. Somehow my dish was significantly smaller than his. It was also very disappointing. For a tenner, I got 2 skewers of kebab, one pork one lamb. Both of them very under seasoned, too chewy due to a significant amount of tendon left in the meat, and bad value for money. My boyfriend got more meat on his plate, but again it didn't taste of much. Basically just grilled pieces of boring meat.

The main dishes came with greek salad, which was not that impressive either. If you want rice or chips, you have to order them separately. More money flies from your pocket!

I'd better have kebab from a shop near my place next time.

I booked a table for 30 people - emphasising that I would need vegetarian options on the phone. The atmosphere and mixed mezze was great. However, the two coures that followed had no vegetarian options, which was disappointing. There third course was also quite small about one skewer of meat each (they were quite small). There was also confusion with the bill at the end - I feel that some of my party may have underpaid me, which is of course not the restaurants fault, but I am not entirely sure if we consumed every bottle of wine listed on the tab - as many were purchasing direct from the bar. Anyhow we also didn;t receive and desserts - one of my party asked for a birthday cake for me - they brought out a platter of fruit with candles (which was lovely)but seemed to replace the desserts with this which I felt was a little unfair. Having said that the service was good - in particular a Polish waitress who was great. Not sure if I would go back again - on food standard yes, but I am not sure if because is was a large party and to be honest I did not know what was going on (I was trying to chat to everybody as it was my birthday) that we were taken advantage when it came to the bill.

Don't hold your breath - this isn't a 'find'. But, tucked away only moments from Camden tube station, this little Greek restaurant offers big portions and nice touches, such as very lovely Greek salads and bread inbetween courses. The food was more than adequate and although it didn't make you faint under the weight of spouting superlatives, it was done well, no-nonsense. Only drawback is the service, which verges on scary and irritated on occasion.

I went to a hen party lunch at Andy's on a quiet Saturday in March 2006.

The staff looked after the thirteen of us beautifully, and brought us a complimentary plate of Greek cakes as a treat at the end of the meal. We ate well, and very amply, for a reasonable price (and were even allowed to pack and take away the main course, which had defeated us). Recommended for the gentle warmth of the service that we experienced, the cheery interior and the honest food.
