My wife and I visited. The food is very good and the attention to detail and quality of produce used is easily evidenced. Try this place - its interesting and James (the proprietor) is very trying in giving an interesting menu which really isn't easy to find in many other restaurants in the South Ken area.

I visited on Friday the 5th of December with two friends. One of my companions is a fussy eater.

James himself rang me in advance of our visit to ensure that we were coming (we'd made an on-line booking), this represented a good touch, as restaurant proprietors aren't normally to be seen engaging with customers often.

It's a beautiful, elegant restaurant, clean. The crockery was of fine quality and of a good brand, something that I find adds substantially to the overall experience. The It did become bositerous as some diners were having a jolly time. Without rowdy elements, (which is beyong the control of the restaurant) Jimmy's would be a a good venue for an intimate dine.

The food was good, out of the nine dishes we ordered, only one was a cause of very mild disappointment, the remaining dishes were superb. One of my companions commented that the soup was the best they'd had and we all agreed that the desserts were very delicious. The 'Jimmy's Fries' which two of us ordered as sides (also as a contingency measure if the main dish fell short of expectation), were oily and too crispy but we cleared them all nontheless. That's one for improvement.

The prices you pay for the service, quality of food and location makes this very good value. I'll be back again, so will my companions.

Had a lovely meal here over the weekend, couldn't fault the service, food or room at any point.

Nicely busy on a sat night, Jimmy's was a proper grown up meal out with stunning decor to match. Don't agree with other comments about the portion sizes at all.

Very good value - not cheap but was well worth the money compared to similar experiences elsewhere.

Some things excellent, some terrible. Excellent - the decor was very stylish and cool, you could tell a lot of thought had gone into the whole place. General ambience was very good. We sat upstairs where it wasn't full at all but the place still felt buzzy and the music was good. Foodwise the homemade breads were gorgeous as were the soups (one seafood, one nettle).

Bad - the portion sizes for main courses were embarrassing. This is not an haute cuisine restaurant - its food, according to a review proudly posted on its website, is meant to be stylish comfort food which should mean that for the prices charged (which are relatively high) the portions are decent sized. I'm not a fat boy and don't want big momma style portions but I do expect something slightly less laughable that what appeared on our plates for main. My smoked haddock monte carlo was a tiny piece of haddock on a tiny bit of mash with a little poached egg on top. All gone in a couple of minutes. At least mine tasted nice, albeit in a slightly bland way. My wife's was little short of a disgrace. A scrawny, fatty piece of breadcrumbed veal lying next to a few withered salad leaves with a pot of sour cream in the middle. It tasted pretty vile and gristly. I would have given my wife some of mine but that would have left me with even less! At least we'd ordered the extra chips - which came in a beautiful mock-fryer but which unfortunately consisted of only about 5 chips! The knickerbocker glory for dessert was quite nice if slightly overpriced.

Service started off very well and went downhill rapidly. The wait between starter and main was really long and the waiter was a bit odd in telling my wife that he was disappointed with her choice of starter! As we were sat at the back of the upstairs it took about 15 minutes of waving before we finally got the bill. Overall the meal had started off so well that I was a bit annoyed come the end. Was thinking we'd found our perfect local when stingy portions and slightly superior service let it down. Not sure if we'll be back.

Have just started eating at Jimmy's - don't know why I took so long to venture in but I wish I'd done it sooner.

Delicious food, fresh, well prepared and beautifully presented with plenty of choice. Lovely looking room with plenty of good tables. Probably the best service in London - professional but very warm and consistent.

Can't recommend this place enough and at £27.50 for three courses a veritable bargain. My favourite combination is crab cocktail, pepper steak with their amazing chips and cheesecake to follow.

James the owner is almost always there to ensure a warm welcome, only downside is it's getting more popular so i guess booking in advance will becom essential.

Returned to Jimmy's last Sunday having been assured by the owner that changes had been made since the somewhat less than complimentary review that I wrote on here last time. He was right - A tremendous improvement. To be fair my wife has never wavered in her liking for Jimmy's and once described it as "a ladies restaurant". At the time I agreed because the portions weren't substantial enough and variety was rather lacking.

We both started with egg benedict which was excellent as usual. My wife followed with her usual-the chicken liver pate. Then came the big test-My main course! I ordered the roast pork. Deliciously tender with plenty of crispy roast potatoes, a tasty sauce, magnificent yorkshire pudding and vegetables. Now this is proper Sunday lunch-not just a big yorkshire pudding with a morcel of braised beef in the middle-Unpretentious, wholesome, and tasty food.

Thank you for listening James and see you soon. Well done.

Had yet another brilliant meal at Jimmy's. Third visit in a month and each time the menu has new things to try which is great. And delicious! The service was amazing and the very charming owner was absolutely world class. It gets busier each time I go - and I even got to do some celeb spotting!

I'm afraid that Jimmy's was nowhere near as good as usual when we went for Sunday lunch yesterday. Whilst my wife claimed the eggs benedict was the "best I've ever had", and loved the pate, that's where the compliments end.

I chose the moules, one of the specials, for my starter. Admittedly I did ask for the lemon grass to be excluded but on arrival the dish not only lacked any flavour, half the moules were hot and the other half cold. The cold poached salmon that I ordered for my main course was no better -it merely consisted of a rather small piece of salmon on some runner beans and nothing else. My idea of cold poached salmon is to have hot buttered new potatoes with the fish and a delicious salad. This was so drab I wanted to cry. Our friend chose the Beef and yorkshire pudding which he deemed "extremely disappointing". Not hard to see why. The dish was just a huge yorkshire pudding and a small piece of braised beef plonked in the middle. On an previous visit I chose the Beef Wellington and remeber being disappointed at the lack of vegetables and scarcity of roast potatoes. Despite the potential of this place it needs to avoid going down the road of nouvelle cuisine, otherwise the very personable owner will come unstuck like the previous incumbent of this site. It's not cheap at Jimmy's either and for the price, the servings should be much more imaginative-and larger.

First impressions- Great greeting on arrival, young, friendly and good fun....a very good start. It got better. A fab kir royal served in an eccentric gravity defying flute. the food was impeccable, british and unbelievably tasty. the chef done good! can't believe that boy is only 25....the beef welly was to die for! the front of house were brilliant, attentive to perfection. I would heartily recommed it. If you want starchy napkins and best behaviour, maybe not for you. If you want a lovely relaxed great value restaurant with fabulous food.....voila! ps the italian waiter was fabbo!!! x
