I personally think this place is over priced - the food was below average and the service was only ok.
I had the breakfast - nothing really special about it, no seasoning at all, infact it was quite bland. The waiter said it wouldn't be a problem to exclude the beans, but they did appear on the plate. My friends had the burgers and the roast - again they said there was nothing special about it.
Desserts were not nice, my friends got extremely lumpy custard that looked nasty!
I would avoid the hummus at all cost, unless you need to use it as polyfiller - possibly the worst thing I have ever tried - had to send it back it was so bad,

I have had exactly the same problem as the reviewer below with adaptability to a reasonable request. The service is entirely variable depending on the staff member that happens to serve you. Some are brilliant, particularly those that have been there for a while, and some are really unhelpful and unfriendly. I used to go regularly but rarely visit now as experiences are so uneven. It is a shame because I generally like the food. Apparently the policy is now to be less adaptable as they are becoming a chain (they have two branches) and want everything to be standard - I would argue that the prices aren't cheap and pizza express will vary their food within reason if you ask them!! Weird idea of customer service.

I was there today with the family. I was appalled that they were not at all adaptable. My son who is on a special diet does not eat certain foods, the dish he ordered came with a choice of either brown rice or mash, well he wanted veg instead, the manager said no they could not accommodate him, so he ended up having the breakfast meal.
It was a very simple thing to do.
Apart from the breakfast the rest of the food was tasty.

Went with a friend yesterday, both non-vegetarians but thought the menu looked good. We both got the burger with cheese, which was better than any beef burger I've had in ages! Tasty and moist and the chips were good too. Service was good if basic and there was a nice atmosphere. We didnt have room for dessert but will be going back to try the apple crumble which looked amazing! Not the cheapest prices but overall pretty good and will go back.

Went there with 2 small kids and the in-laws, on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Good food, but service was very slow. I think they must be understaffed in the kitchen and in the restaurant as there were only 2 people serving and taking orders.
Prices are a little on the high side but not too outrageous.
Overall a good experience but hopefully the service will improve.

Both my husband and I are vegetarians, and honestly, we like this place because it does a decent veggie burger that actually tastes like a flame-grilled meaty burger. It comes with coleslaw and gherkin, and skinny fries - very nice. It's not meant to be healthy, it's meant to be a treat.
I can imagine that vegetarians who don't like the taste or look of meat will find this place quite offensive - a lot of the menu is made up of meat-substitutes. But, I miss a nice bit of duck, and a big juicy burger, so when a meaty-craving strikes, this place is a blessing.
My husband swears by the Lancashire hot pot (usually served in winter only) - I think the steamed dumplings are very nice.
So, if you're a veggie and you're craving a burger, this place will sort you out, guilt-free. Don't expect a gourmet experience - order a bottle of wine and settle into a booth for the afternoon. Enjoy!

Went there about one week ago and regretted it. Food was not tasty, not the least bit inspired, and terrible value for money!
First of all I the menu seems almost entirely composed of pretend meat that generally comes from a can or package of some sort (soya burgers, sausages, "chicken"), which frankly requires no imagination or effort to prepare whatsoever, and in themselves are not very tasty. Then, on top of it everything seems to be fried or drenched in litres of cream sauce - to hide the lack of taste maybe? Vegetarian maybe; healthy or even enjoyable? certainly not.
Vegetarian food can be SO interesting, tasty and full of flavour that I find it really disappointing when I go to places like this which seem to be like McDonalds, but, of course, because it's "vegetarian" (trendy?) they think they can get away with charging 10 pounds for a processed burger and 13 pounds for some kind of (tasteless) thai dish. I think not. You can generally get a better vegetarian option in any regular "non-vegetarian" restaurant or pub nowadays than what is being offered at this place.

I was initially wary of eating here because some of the more negative comments, but I'm so glad we went! My sister is the only veggie among us, but even my partner who is a deeply committed meat-eater enjoyed it! It makes a nice change to have a choice of vegetarian food that mimics meat - my sister is especially fed up with vegetable lasagne, so it was great for her to have such a choice. I can see why the service has been criticised because even on the Tuesday evening we went it was busy, but I hate being hovered and fussed over anyway. The atmosphere was lively, and I felt at ease straight away. The only thing I could possibly ask for is an extended dessert menu! (And maybe a nationwide chain!)

'Eat and Two Veg' seemed like a good choice for an after-theatre meal. The show that we went to see at the ENO was light and funny so a meal in a buzzy, cheerful atmosphere was just what we needed to complement the experience.
When I phoned in the afternoon to book a table for that evening the person who answered the phone was polite and informative, letting us know that last orders were at 10pm. Really useful to know as the show was due to end at 9.20pm. In the event, we got to the restaurant at 9.45pm.
We were immediately seated in a cosy booth which reminded us of all the old American films set in ice-cream parlours. The waitress was friendly and our drinks came very quickly. The restaurant has a very good choice of wines - their two sauvignon options are the best in the range when it comes to real zingy sauvignon taste. Our food also came quickly and the portions are HUGE. Very good value for money. Food was tasty though it might be an idea for the restaurant to provide some sort of dips with some of the choices just to spice things up a bit. But good, filling, healthy dishes. The desserts were also good. My partner had the crumble. As a dedicated foodie his judgement on food is usually spot on. Overall he felt (he is not a vegetarian) that the experience was good value for money, would go back again, though he would like to see more fusion cooking but that is more of a personal choice.
I enjoyed my meal, and in particular I found the waitress to be very friendly and helpful. I found myself wondering if some of the comments from some of the previous reviewers were perhaps more about how they themselves handled situations. Often when we are friendly towards other people and polite that is what you get back.
We would certainly go back again.

I liked the restaurant and food - even though it was a little over-priced, but I thought it was extremely rude and presumptious for the waitress to not give us our change back - and assume that was the tip. We were just going to tip more when she brought the littler silver tray back.
